Recovery is a key component for any athlete wanting to make gains in their performance and prevent injury.
At our Launceston clinic we have recently introduced a Normatec active/mechanical compression recovery unit.
Normatec boots provide pulsating dynamic compression to the legs to reduce swelling, muscle fatigue and stiffness. Essentially they work by providing an extremely effective massage by chambers contracting in a 'wave like' manner from the foot to the top of the thigh – as each chamber is inflated, the preceding is deflated.
These units help athletes recover:
• faster from fatigue
• reduce muscle soreness
• improve their ability to maintain performance levels after repeated bouts of exercise, training and competition.
• quickly remove metabolic waste products from the blood after exercise eg lactate
• quickly return to pre-exercise creatine kinase (CK) levels (CK is a marker of muscle damage)

Normatec units a used widely in elite sport. Most notably by the US Olympic, Tour de France and AFL teams.
Our Normatec recovery unit is available for hire by individuals and clubs.
